Semaphore available on all major streaming platforms Friday 15th of July, touring in August with Ethanol Blend

EP preview

Having already released singles ‘Longsleeves’ and ‘Soak’, colourblind are excited to unveil their second EP 'Semaphore', which will be available on all major streaming platforms Friday 15th of July.

The 7-track EP was recorded in mid 2020 with Jarred Nettle (House of SAP), since mixed by Dylan Adams and mastered by Ted Jensen (Sterling Sound)

Lyrically, colourblind is somewhat of a journal for singer and guitarist Finn Cameron. Named after the suburb where he grew up, ‘Semaphore’ is a nod to his teenage years, and draws upon experiences from the time. The EP tackles the sharp transition between teenage years and adulthood. Themes of break-ups, the reality of getting older, learning to accept who you are for better or for worse, and the pervasiveness of mental health struggles are backed up by emo and alternative rock driven tracks, reminiscent of bands like Basement and Microwave. An emotional scream-along anthem, ‘Semaphore’ aims to move the listener like their favourite band did when they were younger.

“Semaphore has a dual meaning to us all. Three of us grew up in and near Semaphore. Moving back and forth from the area, the suburb name fit well with the themes of maturing as it’s where we grew up and did a lot of our learning” Finn says. “It’s also a bit of a nod to the flag language of the same name - part of growing up is learning that it’s okay and sometimes necessary to reach out for help. We’ve come a long way as people since this band started and although we still write and love emo music, we’ve also learnt how to better deal with and channel these challenging emotions into greater things”.

The band are heading out on their first full headline tour this coming August to celebrate the release. Entirely self-booked, fellow Adelaide alternative outfit Ethanol Blend will be joining colourblind for 5 dates across the country.

BIO

colourblind are the band you are front row for. Singing every single word, embracing your best mates - all the right moves for a cathartic experience, which has shone the band out of their home-town into the national spotlight. Their first EP ‘Move Like You’ continues to resonate with fans, selling out rooms, overpowering the band screaming each lyric. Support of ‘Move Like You’ is growing, accumulating over 2 million streams with no signs of slowing down. The release followed with a string of supports with Dear Seattle, BUGS, Waxflower and These New South Wales to name a few, as well as a tour with fellow Adelaide heavyweights Sleep Talk.

The band is ready to hit the East coast again in celebration of their new EP, “Semaphore”, an alternative-emo reflection on break-ups, maturing as individuals and battling mental health problems.

“They’re a band who deserve your attention with every move they make”
